MERMAIDENS I MIGHT DISAPPEAR

Following April's angsty offering 'You Maintain The Stain', New Zealand alt-rockers Mermaidens have announced their forthcoming third album Look Me In The Eye with its wonderfully wobbly lead track. Pairing vibrato-soaked riffs with driving bass and broken beats, rippling synth interludes bring an almost ravey Blur-esque element to 'I Might Disappear'. Lyrically unravelling the complex web of emotions that comes hand in hand with building a new relationship. vocalist/guitarist Gussie Larkin explains..."‘I Might Disappear’ is a song about the mess of feelings I have when I make myself vulnerable to another person, and the dread that this will push them away. Being close to someone can bring you to share all the weird thoughts and anxieties that wouldn’t usually leave the inside of your mind. In a way, I think that’s the best thing about intimate relationships, but it’s also really scary!” Listen here now. -Holly Mullineaux
